What is Medlin Payroll Cloud? Medlin Payroll Cloud is a 'hybrid' system offering secure online storage for your data, using our long established desktop software. Rather than keeping your data on a single local computer, your data will be securely stored online (when not in use), and can be accessed from any computer Medlin Payroll has been setup and installed. Why Cloud? Offers the ability to securely (password protected and encrypted) store your data online, and access your data from any Windows computer.

Multiple work locations: You can access your data from your main location, as well as from other locations, such as home, without having to manually move data from computer to computer.

Is the software itself run in/from the 'cloud'? No. The software itself must be downloaded and installed on your computer. When adding or editing data, a local computer is exponentially faster than over the internet. Using a local machine for data entry also reduces the chances of any issues should your internet connection be less than ideal.

Is internet access required? Yes. When you open the software, you will need internet access to download and upload the securely stored data. Eventually, we may offer some sort of offline mode, where you will only need internet access to access or update the stored data.

Is the stored data safe? Yes. Your securely stored data is not visible via web browser or FTP software. Your securely stored data is only available when using Medlin Payroll.

Installation and data folders. The cloud edition must be installed and run from the same drive Windows is on (generally your 'C' drive). You cannot install or use Medlin on other drives, or on removable media. Data will be placed in specific subfolders from the application folder. You will not be able to move or relocate data to other folders.

Any safety tips? Certainly. The biggest tip is to use some sort of portable (battery powered) computer. Why? If your power is interrupted you do not lose any data (if your battery has enough power). Personally, I am fond of the Surface Pro tablet and laptop lines (they are well built, and include very strong security features). As long as your portable computer runs a current desktop version of Windows, it will work fine. For use at your desk, it is easy to plug a portable into a desktop monitor, and you can find many bluetooth keyboards and mice to make your portable 'feel' like a desktop. Also important is to keep your installed version of Windows current. We will not be allowing our cloud edition to be used with outdated versions of Windows (must be a version of Windows which receives regular security updates).
