Jerry Medlin started a bookkeeping business in 1974, and in 1978 bought his first computer. Jerry began learning programming language and writing programs to fill his own need for software, after discovering available software was cumbersome and complicated. Medlin Software was born in 1984 as a way to distribute Jerry's programs to other businesses. All Medlin Software programs operate on the principle that an accounting program should avoid computer terminology, needless restrictions on the user, and glacial operating speeds. "With our programs," Jerry says, "simplicity is the key!"

When Jerry discovered his degree in Industrial Engineering meant following people around with a stop watch, he decided to make a career change. He started a bookkeeping business in 1974, and in 1978 bought his first computer. Jerry began writing programs to fill his own need for software, after discovering available software was cumbersome and complicated. Medlin Software was born in 1984 as a way to distribute Jerry's software to other businesses. Jerry is an inaugural inductee to the Shareware Hall of Fame. Sadly, Jerry passed in 2022. We continue his legacy by adhering to his founding principles.

Managing Director, Shareholder, and Chief Programmer: Dennis Pearson
Before joining Medlin Software in 1993, Dennis worked in automotive and boat repair, construction, and managing a bakery. He remembers seeing his first main frame computer in the mid 1960's. In the 1970's, he took accounting courses and began working with computer applications. By the mid 1980's Dennis owned his own computer and was teaching himself how to program. By early 1993, Medlin Software had grown to the point where the business needed someone to handle telephone support for its programs. Dennis was ready for a new career and saw an advertisement for a telephone support person for a local computer software company in the local newspaper. He remembered the name "Medlin" from an earlier feature article about Jerry selling "Shareware", and gave Jerry a call. A perfect match was made. Starting out as part time telephone support person, Dennis caught the programming bug and taught himself new programming languages, becoming an invaluable collaborator with Jerry, allowing Jerry to retire in the late 90's.
